Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS) proudly presents its newest contactless smart card reader ?ACR122, the world’s First NFC Card Reader compliant to CCID standard with an optional ISO-7816-3 SAM slot.
The ACR122 is specially developed on the 13.56MHz contactless smart card (RFID) technology, supporting not only Mifare? ISO 14443 A and B cards but also NFC and FeliCa contactless technologies. Its proximity operating distance is up to 5 cm, depending on the type of contactless tag in use.
With CCID compliance, the ACR122 is ideal for both secure personal identity verification and online micro-payment transaction. Typical applications of the ACR122 include access control, e-payment, e-ticketing for events and mass transit, toll road fare collection, network authentication, logistics and supply chain management.
With ACR122, the existing service providers of systems using Felica cards can create new applications more readily. Currently, one of the most common applications for Felica contacless technology is automatic fare collection like those by Octopus in Hong Kong, EZ Link in Singapore and Pasmo in Japan.
In addition, the ACR120 is also available in module form, which is extremely easy to design-in giving you maximum design and development flexibility. Own casing, logo, color, size can all now be materialized.

What is NFC?
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a short-range wireless connectivity technology standard designed for intuitive, simple and safe communication between electronic devices. NFC communication is enabled by bringing two NFC compatible devices within a few centimeters of one another. Applications of NFC technology include contactless transactions such as payment and transit ticketing, simple and fast data transfers including calendar synchronization or electronic business cards and access to online digital content.(Source: http://www.nfc-forum.org)
What is Felica card?
FeliCa is a contactless IC card technology developed by Sony. As the name stemming from the word "felicity" suggests, the system was born to make daily living easier and more convenient. The card is difficult to forge/reconstruct, and allows to send/receive data at high speed and with high security. The system is also environment-friendly since the card can be used over-and-over virtually forever by rewriting the data. It also features ultimate user-ease, as would be expected from a contactless card, since there is no longer any need to retrieve and put away the card for every use. All-in-all, the system is rational throughout, since one card is enough to provide for various purposes.(Source: http://www.sony.net)
